HOW TO USE Hitting Disk
How to Use The Hitting Disk?
Below are some great videos and tips on getting to know your hitting disk. Great videos the instructions of how to use.
STEP 1 - FLOP YOUR HITTING DISK
Choose an area, inside or out, that has some open space. – you’re going to want to throw with the wind. Hold the Hitting Disk™ in the palm of one hand. Half of the disk should flop over your thumb (see photo). You’ll get the hang of it with just one or two tries!
STEP 2 - CLAP YOUR HANDS
Put the other hand on top – all fingers touching with the disk between your hands. Maintaining a “palm up” position through your imaginary point of contact is the key to training effectively with the Hitting Disk™. Tip: One of the most common problems in hitting is caused by rolling the hands too early in the swing – creating a substantial loss of bat-speed and power.
STEP 3 - SET YOUR BATTING STANCE
Now, get in your normal batting stance and put your hands in the same position you would with a baseball or softball bat – hands should be up and around the face area. Your feet will be just past your shoulders, toes are slightly turned in, knees are bent, back elbow is down, hands are away from your body and back, just around your shoulders.
STEP 4 - SERVE THE PIZZA!
Once you are in a comfortable hitting stance, you’re ready to swing. To get the hang of what the Hitting Disk can teach you, pretend there is a long table about waist high from home plate to the pitcher’s mound. Imagine the Hitting Disk is a small pizza and you are going to slide the pizza straight down the table! Tip- be aggressive with your swing – taking the same swing as you would take with a bat. Make sure you do not push your hands through the ball as you need to drive your hands through the ball. AVOID throwing the disks into a hard surface (ex. wall) as they will not last and are not covered by our limited warranty. We RECOMMEND throwing them into a net or letting them fly in an open area.
STEP 5 - BE AGGRESSIVE THROUGH THE BALL
When you release the disk or at your point of contact your top hand palm should be facing the sky. Don’t role your top hand over to early as this will create groundballs. Throwing the disk up indicates the same swing that creates fly balls. By sliding the imaginary pizza – you’re performing a fundamental “palm up” hitting drill. If you’ve maintained your form through the toss, your Hitting Disk will fly straight like a line drive. For beginners, try throwing the disk about 10 yards, and advanced your goal to about 30 yards. AVOID throwing the disks into a hard surface (ex. wall) as they will not last and are not covered by our limited warranty. We RECOMMEND throwing them into a net or letting them fly in an open area.
STEP 6 - YOUR FINISH
When you come through to finish, make sure you finish high with your hands – keeping your eyes on the ball at contact. Remember, you want to keep a palm up, palm down position well through the ball. Hitting Tip: The longer you stay in form through the ball at contact, the stronger hitter you will be. All good hitters hit “through” the ball and not “at” the ball. Try imagining that you are hitting two balls spaced about a foot apart at one time. The first ball is the one you are hitting and the other ball is coming in right behind it. Go through the first ball, hit the imaginary second ball – then you can start to roll your hands. Remember, one of the most common mistakes for both young and advanced hitters is the tendency to roll the hands too early!
STEP 7 - IMPORTANCE OF BALANCE
Make sure that when you have finished throwing the disk your stance is still balanced. Notice the proper line from the top of the hat, all the way down the body and straight out the knee into the ground (photo). You don’t want to have a bent front leg or be titling up. When you throw the disk the correct way, with the wind, it will go out like a line drive and land easily.

Amazing for practices, safe to not get hurt with for reps at home and for mastering your swing. How many hitting training tools can you get under $10? Great product and we will always continue to use them nationwide in our camps. Players and coaches love them!"

"As a coach of all ages I have always struggle with ways to make hitting practice fun or keep kids occupied while I am in the cage coaching. I started using the disc primarily as a way to keep kids busy, however, I noticed that the more we used the disc the better the hitting in the cage and on the field became. Using the disc is now mandatory at all practices and the games that we have developed with it keeps practice fun and lively. It has definitely made a difference."

"This baseball training tool has been great, teaches our players to stay through the ball, when to roll hands and when not to roll hands. It’s also great for practices, always looking for something fresh and new for stations. They are safe, affordable and a must have for any coaches bag with any age team."
Andy M - Midnight Suns Select Program
"I use the Hitting Disk during all of my camps, clinics and lessons all over Northern Nevada and California. It is one of the most fun, effective, easy to use and safe training aids available.
First of all, the Hitting Disk won’t fly consistently straight and for any significant distance if you don’t keep the front shoulder closed, get the hands to a palm up – palm down position, maintain a short path to release, stay balanced and utilize the lower half. These same “rules” apply to the swing. Simply put, if a player can get the Hitting Disk to consistently fly straight and for a relatively far distance, they typically have a fundamentally sound swing.
Additionally, the Hitting Disk is so fun to use that players who train with the Hitting Disk regularly are actually improving their swings without realizing they are “practicing” proper swing mechanics. We do accuracy contests, distance contests, Hitting Disk golf and Over-the-Line games that bring out the competitiveness in the kids creating a more focused and fun atmosphere. We even use the Hitting Disk during our indoor clinics because they are safe to use and won’t break windows or injure someone if they do fly off path. I have actually had kids show up for camp and at check in on the first day ask “Are we going to use the Hitting Disk this camp?” They look forward to the Hitting Disk games sometimes more than any other part of camp!
I understand that having a good swing and being a good hitter are two different things. With that said, having a fundamentally sound swing is the basis for any good hitter and the Hitting Disk will help any player improve their swing."
